Mega star turned politician Chiranjeevi celebrates his 54th birthday on August 22! Chiranjeevi was born in 1955 to Konidela Venkat Rao and Anjana Devi in Mogultoor. Fondly called 'Chiru', Chiranjeevi is listed among the top 50 powerful men in India.Chiranjeevi started his film career with a small role in Punadi Rallu, directed by Raj Kumar in 1978. Although it was his first film, his first release was Pranam Kharidu (1978), after which he was offered a series of small villain's roles in films like Manavoori Pandavulu and Adavi Donga. In 1979, Chiranjeevi had eight releases and by its last quarter, his popularity began.
It was during the 80s that Chiranjeevi rose as a real star. With his roles in Punnami Naagu (1980) and Nyayam Kavali (1981), he received equal appreciation from critics and audiences. The turning point came with Khaidi (1983), which fetched him immediate stardom and marked the beginning of his dominance in Tollywood.
Some of his blockbusters include Abhilasha (1983), Challenge (1984), Pasivadi Pranam (1987),swayam krushi ,Athaku Yamudu Ammayiki Mogudu (1989), Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari(1990), Kodama Simham (1990), Gang Leader (1991), Rowdy Alludu (1991) and Gharana Mogudu (1992).
After a low phase during the mid 1990s, Chiranjeevi made a comeback in the late 1990s with another series of blockbusters including Master (1997), Choodalani Vundi (1998), Bavagaru Bagunnara(1998) and Sneham Kosam (1999). With an ideology of social democracy, he entered the political arena and established Praja Rajyam Party in 2008.

Apart from being a megastar on silver screen, Chiru is a man with a golden heart. He started a charitable trust named "Chiranjeevi charitable trust" and made his fans partners in social welfare activities. Chiru has done his bit during Kargil and is proving to be a real-life hero for many bright and brilliant yet poor students. Lots of detractors use CCT as a basis to carp evil at Chiru but they forget about other trusts formed for "public welfare" by others.
It is natural that a person develops arrogance when he achieves a higher position. Chiru is one actor who never ever developed this arrogance. With each success he became more humble and down-to-earth; a virtue that made him a blessed individual.

Sushmita is married to a Chennai-based busines man Vishnu Prasad and Sreeja to Sirish Bharadwaj. Ram Charan Tej debuted in films with Chirutha, followed by the recent blockbuster Magadheera.
