Raksha Bandhan: The Pure Connection of Love

The pure relationship of love between brothers & sisters is one of the noblest & deepest of person emotions. ‘Rakhi’ or ‘Raksha Bandhan’ is exclusive time to honor the emotional bonding by tying sacred thread around the wrist of her brother. This thread, which pulses with sisterly love & sublime sentiments, is correctly called the ‘Rakhi’. Its meaning is ‘a tie of protection’, & Raksha Bandhan implies that the physically powerful must guard the weak from all the evil of the earth.

This practice takes place on full moon day of month of Shravan of Hindu, on which sisters bind the sacred Rakhi thread on their brother’s right wrist & wish for their long life. Rakhis are commonly prepared of silk with gold & silver threads, beautifully prepared embroidered sequins & studded along with semi precious stones. All the people around the world celebrate this festival by sending Rakhi SMS to their near and dear ones. This custom not only strengthens the union of love between brothers & sisters, but it also transcends the limits of the family. As soon as Rakhi is knotted on the wrist of nearby friends & neighbors then it underscores the requirement for a harmonious and peaceful social life, where every person co-exists calmly as brothers & sisters.
